Welcome to Micro-Protests - Protesting Via Twitter

(original article) The lights are going out all over Twitter | Technology | guardian.co.uk.

New Zealand government internet proposals are causing tweeps to protest by blacking out their profile pictures. The new law will amend the copyright law and stipulates that ISPs must adopt and implement a policy that provides for termination of accounts used by anyone deemed a ‘repeat infringer’ regardless of whether the person has committed a crime or not.

Proponents claim that Section 92a is required to keep a lid on the problem of illegal downloading.

I wonder if the US and UK will follow suite….

Here is an example of a blacked out profile (as of date of posting it was blacked out). http://www.twitter.com/stephenfry
